VISIOMER® Terra GMMA
Sustainable methacrylate monomer for high-performance contact lenses
Soft contact lenses are hydrogels typically composed of hydroxyesters such as VISIOMER® UHP-HEMA, crosslinkers like VISIOMER® EGDMA, PEG200DMA and TRGDMA and other comonomers to increase hydrophilicity.
Our newest specialty methacrylate, VISIOMER® Terra GMMA (glycerol monomethacrylate (GMMA), has proven to be a valuable and useful hydrophilic building block that offers several advantages, including low shrinkage, flexibility, and a high level of water permeability.
VISIOMER® Terra GMMA is a partially bio-based monomer that supports a more renewable and eco-friendly future. Its bio-content portion of 43% is certified by DIN CERTCO―the certification body of TÜV Rheinland Group.
